An Associate of Science degree in Environmental Resources Science provides students with a broad understanding of environmental and natural resources issues. The courses relate to how society maintains our ecosystem and decides the best use for our natural resources.

As part of the Associate of Science degree, Environmental Resources Science majors complete a combination of technical and general courses that allow them to gain hands-on experience while completing 50 percent of the curriculum for one of four Bachelor of Science degrees at The Ohio State University College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. This degree also includes the transfer module, a common set of courses which apply to other bachelor's degree programs in Ohio.

The bachelor's degree options are:
Environmental science
Fisheries and wildlife
Forestry and urban forestry
Human dimensions in natural resources

Students who are not planning to ultimately pursue a bachelor's degree might be interested instead in the Environmental Resouces Management Associate of Applied Science program.

Career Opportunities in Environmental Resources Science
After completing the Associate of Science degree in Environmental Resources Science, many students will find that career opportunities will vary according to graduates' chosen major. Opportunities may include careers in water quality management, in air pollution control, with fish and game agencies, in woodlands or wildlife management, with state or federal forestry agencies, and in tourism, recreation, or environmental education.

Salary Trends
Beginning salaries for graduates will vary according to each graduate's major, skills, the position sought, and other factors determined by employers.

Students who choose not to complete a bachelor's degree program and instead pursue employment upon graduation with an Associate of Science degree in Environmental Resources Science should refer to the Environmental Resources Management Associate of Applied Science program.
